RSV symptoms in adults

Common RSV symptoms in adults can look like a cold, but older adults and people with lung, heart, or immune problems can become seriously ill.

Short answer

Adults with RSV may have runny nose, coughing, sneezing, fever, wheezing, appetite changes, and tiredness. Some people develop breathing trouble or worsening chronic conditions. People at higher risk should contact a clinician if symptoms are severe, worsening, or include trouble breathing.
